Is this course approved by the New York DMV?
Yes. ClearRecord is a state-approved Point and Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP) provider licensed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
How many points will be reduced from my license?
Completing the PIRP course will reduce up to 4 points from your NY driving record. Note that points are reduced from your total but remain on your abstract.
How long does the insurance discount last?
Your insurance company is required by New York law to give you a 10% discount on the base rate of your automobile insurance for 3 years after completing the course.
How often can I take the PIRP course?
You can take the PIRP course once every 18 months to receive the point reduction benefit. You may take it more frequently for the insurance discount.
Is there a final exam?
No final exam is required for the New York PIRP course. You simply need to complete all required course time and content.
